3. Canal 20

2020
For me, photography is about noticing the things no-one else notices. Weaving a visual narrative from marks, unwanted objects, and curious corners. With this photographic series, I wanted to highlight the quiet beauty hidden within canal boats.

Photographed at Kings Cross Canal
If you observe the details surrounding a canal and the boats that inhabit them, you’ll find a peculiar mix of old and new. This mix of old and new is one that feels completely removed from our society; canals are an inspirational alternative reality. I personally feel the curiosities lurking in and around canal boats are frequently overlooked. This photo series is the first instalment of an on-going project that will explore the unusual structures of canal boats and oddities connected to them.
